Just a Poor Boy

So, it’s like the writers at Fox heard everything I ever said about GLEE this season. All my negative comments and disappointment. And, BAM! At 4 am this morning (Wednesday morning), I was suffering from insomnia so I went to my DVR and started to watch the season finale. I wasn’t expecting much after the second half of this season. I mean, the last episode wasn’t too bad, but that’s all I could say for it. Mediocrity. Puh. BUT OH MY GOSH. I have to say I was W-O-Wed (overall) by the finale. It was like WOOSH (a lot of onomatopoeia going on, I know). After how awful this season was… it was like they were saving everything for the finale. Now, you might think I only liked the finale because it was better than the rest of the season. I might agree with you if I hadn’t been so amazed by the finale – the sequence with Vocal Adrenaline’s number paired with Quinn’s birth was brilliant. Not the idea to do so, but the way it was handled. It was just really awesome. I only have two real problems with the finale:

1. The music New Directions performed/ending song
- Their songs sucked. I mean, they weren’t bad, but for A) regionals and B) season finale… the songs just weren’t epic enough. They’re re-tooling of Don’t Stop Believin’ just failed. The first rendition of the Journey classic and Queen’s Somebody to Love were really good. What their glee club had going for them was heart – but they didn’t have enough. They could have gone with an epic, classic song, but they were a bit flat. Didn’t deserve first. I mean, Vocal Adrenaline was sorta cold (no emotion at all, and they relied on Jesse way too much), but they were still eons better. I think the writers, in respect to “Oral Fixation” (won’t even go there) were a little too over-the-top in going to with Olivia Newton John/Josh Groban mash-up.

2. The judges
- Speaking of over-the-top. They’re professionals and musicians and WOULD NOT act like they did. Basically the way the judges behaved and were written was absolutely ridiculous. Hated that. It was so stupid. The only thing gained from that bit with the judges was Olivia telling Sue off and the reaction we got from Sue there.

Anyhow, though it was not perfect, I was awed and touched and only a little disappointed. I loved Shelby’s closure and the fact that the writers didn’t shove Rachel and Shelby down each other’s throats and force a relationship between them. Best of all, the finale was honest. It wasn't trying to be awesome or trying to shove afternoon specials down our throats.

UM. I have nothing else to write about…. EXCEPT THAT WORLD OF COLOR WAS MIGHTILY EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Toodle Pip.
